Re: Game 1: 09-10-14 @ NSH
If the Sens want to make the playoffs this year, they need to win a lot of their winnable games....this is one of them. Hopefully Hoffman and Stone are in!
Edit: Seems like they are. A little disappointed they're scratching Wiercioch again...Comment

Haha yeah.
I thought Cowen had an OK game. Some not so good plays with the puck, but he's improving, and made a few really smart defensive plays.
Chiasson looks so strong on the puck, so powerful fighting off checks and on the boards. Gets to the front of the net well and willingly. I hadn't seen a whole lot of Chiasson play before now, but after just one game watching him closely, I'm a big fan. Our second best player tonight after Turris. Here's a player who might far exceed my expectations for him on the year.
Stone, on the other hand, was disappointing. Well, what was most disappointing was how little ice time he got. But we can see why McLean played him so little. I thought this was supposed to be a guy who creates plays and gets to the net. He looked like a perimeter shooter tonight.
Lazar was really impressive. I think he blocked a shot on his first NHL shift (or was it his second?). Killed penalties, played hard, skated hard in every situation, and even tried to mix in a little creativity in the offensive zone once or twice. Made a couple really noticeable rookie mistakes, but more than made up for them throughout. If he can keep up at even close to this pace, he'll stay with the big club. Anybody else notice his shift with MacArthur-Turris in the third period?Comment

I thought we relied a little too much on Lazar - he was clearly nervous but you can see the potential.
I barely noticed that Stone was on the team. Hoffman was pretty quiet also.
And finally, I know they bought up a few times that Chiasson hasn't scored much of anything in any place he's gone - but I'm expecting big things from him. He looked amazing last night. That shift where he was being full-on ridden to the ice by the Nashville player and STILL held onto the puck...wow.Comment

Apparently in his first full NHL season last year, he got the flu in December and lost a lot of weight, but he's back up to 205 pounds, and it's a muscular 205 pounds, judging by the way he played last night.
But yeah Matt, that play you're talking about was insane. I didn't catch who was the guy on him, but he was all over him. Kid is gonna be a big time power forward in the NHL.
I didn't care much for Gryba and Borowiecki together. Wiercioch should come in for one of them next game. And I'm sure on or both of Greening and Condra will play the next game. Presumably Hoffman/Stone come out.Comment
