Re: Sens fired MacClean
Same here.
The team is around where we were expected to be, with a 4-5 game losing streak in there. As much as I wasn't a fan of a lot of his coaching decisions, I didn't see this coming. I guess the Sens management has higher expectations than the fans do for this year.Comment

Re: Sens fired MacClean
Yeah, I don't really understand, although I hear he had some "interesting" comments after Saturday's game which may have influenced this. I didn't see Saturday's game, does anyone know what was said?Comment

Re: Sens fired MacClean
Yeah but he's been using that "scared to death" line for a while now. In my mind, it was just to demonstrate how every game needs to be prepared for equally. I'm not happy with this; Paulrus seemed like a great coach and person.Comment

Re: Sens fired MacClean
PITTSBURGH -- No coach ever admits to being afraid of losing his job and Paul MacLean, should anyone even bother to ask, would be no different.
Besides, he's busy dealing with a whole number of other fears at the moment.
"All I know is I'm scared to death no matter who we're playing," MacLean said before Saturday's game when TSN's Chris Cuthbert asked if he'd be more worried facing a hot or cold Sidney Crosby. "Whether it's Sidney Crosby or John Tavares or the Sedins, I go day-by-day and I'm just scared to death every day of who we're playing.
"And sometimes," MacLean added. "I'm scared to death of who I'm playing."
The latter was either a playful, serious or semi-serious dig at his under-achieving players. We're not sure, nor are we sure if the players are under-achieving or if they're really not that good. If it's the former, perhaps a coaching change is in order here.
Anyway, MacLean uses the "scared to death" thing almost as much as he refers to injuries as "bo-bo's", which he should really stop doing because A) it's no longer even remotely cute and B) because at least two younger players think he's saying "boo-boo" and that's what they've started calling their injuries. Boo Boo is something different altogether. Boo Boo is Garrioch. It's just getting too confusing.
The point is, if the players are ready to follow their coach's lead enough to start using silly terms, they must like him, at least a little. And if they like him, at least a little, they better start playing better for him, even if it means over-achieving.
Otherwise, they'll soon have a new coach.Comment

Shellshocked.
Didn't this guy win a Jack Adams?
My only guess is that they want to bring up Luke Richardson.Comment
