I think Eakins is a terrible coach, but this seems like a quick scapegoat situation from the Oilers management. The team sucks, too. Instead of trading a core player they'll keep firing the coach.

I don't really take pity on that type of things. He does his best with what he has as a roster. The rest is up to him to communicate well with them. While I always thought he had a great sens of humour with the media..specially during the playoff run against Mtl..I'm wondering if he always used that kind of cynical tone when talking to the players. I could see them getting fed up with that rather quickly.
