  • Foligno extend 6 years

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed left wing Nick Foligno to a six-year contract extension through the 2020-21 season, Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced prior to tonight's game vs. the Minnesota Wild. As is club policy, terms were not disclosed.

    Re: Foligno extend 6 years

I think he got $5.5M per for the 6 years. That seems a bit high, but it could be quite reasonable in the back half of the deal. I don't see him continuing at his current pace for long, but then again I was very disappointed to see him leave the Senators.

Incidentally, many of you likely remember me being most disappointed at the Sens losing Foligno and Fisher - and now clearly both of them are players who contribute significantly to their new clubs. It's hard to say if Foligno was/would be more valuable to the team than Methot is/was, but I think it's indisputable that Fisher would be a better option than Legwand.. and on some nights better than Zibanejad or even Turris.
