Michalek's first goal was sick. On his second goal, it was a beautiful feed by Turris. Karlsson made a great play to get it to Condra behind the net on Chiasson's goal. The Ryan-Zibanejad-Hoffman play that led to Hoffman's goal was a thing of beauty.

Also, Ryan has really developed his two-way play.

Michalek's play has really come on. He did this last year, too, but this year he's doing it without Hemsky and Spezza. I agree about Ryan's two-way play, although for a guy like him I'd want him putting up the points still which he's doing. Really happy the Sens got him signed long-term.

I missed the game so I can't really comment but it seems like Lehner had a good game, so I'll give credit where credit is due :P

Lehner did let in his trademark weak goal.. the second Oilers goal was one he should have had.

                Re: Game 54: Vs Oilers

The thing I noticed is, it was the same group of three or four guys, who suddenly elevated their games and took over in the third period against Pittsburgh: Karlsson, Ryan Zibanejad and Stone, were mainly their best players again on Saturday.

Sure Turris and Hoffman were good as usual, and even Chiasson and Michalek are getting there, but those four guys were being creative, instinctive, and were making all kinds of plays in the offensive zone.

Only a point for Mika, but could have been so much more. That slick behind the back pass from the slot to Ryan on the powerplay that led to a goal, with Z-Bad creating the screen in front, and he got no points on the play. If he can find a way to bring this game on a consistent basis, the pure math alone tells us that he's going to get points on a good portion of those. Not to mention he needs to shoot the puck a lot more.

I was at the game on Saturday. I had 2 Oilers fans sat to my left that would not shut up...until about the 4th goal lol.

Michalek is still a pretty useful player huh. I wish he could play that way a full season. I agree re: Zibanejad, he did a lot of things that weren't necessarily noticed on the score sheet. Again, it's consistency that's going to be key.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Love him on the backcheck.
