Bruins extend Torey Krug & Reilly Smith

Bruins General Manager Peter Chiarelli announced today, March 6, that the club has signed defenseman Torey Krug to a one-year contract extension through the 2015-16 season worth a cap figure of $3,400,000 ....

..And forward Reilly Smith to a two-year contract extension through the 2016-17 season worth an annual cap figure of $3,425,000.

Definitely two important signings, and Boston's got a whole lot of them this season. Remaining are Bartkowski, Campbell, McQuaid, Paille, and Soberberg as UFAs and Connolly, Hamilton, and Spooner as RFAs. These two deals are short term, but both players are still RFAs when the deals expire, and Smith's expires the same year that Savard goes off the books. Shrewd, but I bet they would have liked to get Krug on a two-year bridge as well.. I bet he commands an even higher premium next season.
