In non-related Sens news, the Flames got a five minute penalty and got two shorthanded goals. It's against Toronto, though, so I guess it doesn't really count :P
Pretty good road game from the Sens. The game had it's moments but was a pretty boring one. The Sens played a pretty much perfect defensive game and the Hamburglar was solid. New York definitely had more possession but the Sens got timely goals.
Next game is in Ottawa on Sunday vs Philly. Where we can never win in. I'm expecting to see Hammond in there for that game.
Boston/Washington are within reach, it's going to be a challenge, though.
Washington is probably more likely to catch than Boston at this point. The Bruins seem unstoppable right about now, while the Caps have suddenly started to struggle. We're seven points back with two games in hand, and we play them once. That puts us at a potential of one point behind them if it goes right.
History shows that the Sens will probably have to go 11-4 or maybe 10-5 to make the playoffs this season. That's going to be tough, but they're 10-1-1 in the past 12. Good goaltending and a good work ethic every game will go a long way if this team wants to make the playoffs. The biggest game of the year might just be April 4th vs the Caps!

In the very best case scenario, if Boston loses their next three in regulation, Ottawa wins their next two, and then beats the Bruins on Thursday in regulation, the Sens would have one more point while also having one game in hand over the Bruins. If all the former happened but then they only beat the Bruins in extra time, they're tied for points with Ottawa still having the game in hand. Either of those scenarios puts us back in the Playoffs as early as next Thursday.
Or, if Washington lost all four of their next games in regulation and Ottawa won their next four, the Senators would have one point more than the Capitals and still have two games in hand. That scenario puts us back in the Playoffs as early as next Saturday.
Both are very unlikely to happen, but not outside the realm of possibility.
If the Playoffs started tomorrow and the Sens were in - who would you start in goal?!
Well, one of them has to lose their next game as they play each other :P I guess I'd hope for a Boston regulation win, as Washington seems like they'd be more easy to catch right about now. I can't see them losing four in a row, especially with New Jersey and Buffalo in their next five games, but here's to hoping.
I don't want to be 'that guy', but I think you have to go with Hammond. It sucks for Anderson because, obviously, it's the playoffs. And without him earlier in the season the Sens don't win any games. But if you want the best chance to win, you have to keep Hammond in there.
