Re: Pronger in the Hall of Fame?
I don't think he should even be inducted..but for the fun of entertaining the topic...should he bypass the regular ballot? Why so urgent? If they made Pat Burns wait, a dying man fully deserving of this nomination...then I really really really can't see how he deserves an urgent entry. Pronger is not even officially retired yet. And he is still on a team's payroll. Why are they kissing his ass?

Pronger in the Hall of Fame?
Yeah, count me as someone who doesn't think he should be inducted. I still think the whole situation with the Flyers and Pronger is flagrant cap circumvention, but that's what you get when Ed Snider owns the team! I mean, they've changed the rules so I guess Pronger deserves consideration under those new rules, I just don't think they should have changed the rules.
As for Pronger actually getting in - I don't think his offensive totals merit his induction (compare his per-game numbers to non-inductee Steve Duchesne as a great example). The selection committee loves hardware and international success though, so Pronger gets in because:
Hart
Norris
Stanley Cup
Olympic Gold (x2)
WC Gold
WJC Gold

Re: Pronger in the Hall of Fame?
It's funny how the rules keep changing in Chris Pronger's benefit. I get that he was a good player, but he also did a lot of damage to the league...why are they so quick to change a bunch of rules in his favour? The league acknowledged the Flyers cap circumvention when hiring him onto player safety, yet no punishment for anyone involved and Pronger works with the league while he's still employed and getting paid by the Flyers. And now this.
As for getting inducted into the Hall of Fame, I think he's a slam dunk entry. Look at the list of winners of the Norris Trophy - all of them have been inducted except Carlyle and Wilson (and the non-elgible players). The Hart Trophy? Only three players who have won it have not been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Then add in his team achievements. It's pretty remarkable how impactful Pronger was on the ice. He took the 2006 Oilers, 2007 Ducks and 2010 Flyers all to the Finals in the first year on the team.
