  • Who has the best chance of winning the cup this year?

Chicago is the favorite. They have pretty much the same team. I hope the Sens come out of the east but Boston should take it being the most complete, physical team.

I haven't finished my analysis yet but I still think Pittsburgh can never be ignored.

Pittsburgh doesn't excite me anymore. They should have way more than 1 championship. Yes, they have went through many injuries to top players and have average goaltending at best but I think their time has pasted by somewhat. They used to be so dominant, and still are, but I think other teams have closed the gap and know how to beat them better.

You can never count them out but I think a team like Boston is not worried about them.

        *cough* Leafs *cough*

Haha, in all seriousness though, the Penguins have the best group of forwards in the league. That said though, MAF needs to have a good year. I just don't think he has it in him.

I think our division final is Ottawa v Boston...and I hope we beat Detroit to get to that round.

I really do feel pretty good about Ottawa's chances this year.

I think we could take it all the way this year.

Trying not to get my hopes too high, but this is a team that got to the second round largely without Spezza, Michalek, Karlsson and Cowen...Anderson also missed a chunk of time...so we get all of these players back 100% healthy, AND add Bobby Ryan.

Pretty exciting time to be a Sens fan, no?

I feel like shortly we'll look back at Alfie's departure and see it as a key piece to actually propel the team from pretender to contender. Cutting away from the past is something teams sometimes struggle to do and something the Sens probably wouldn't have done either. The abruptness of the departure is actually the best-case scenario IMO. There's no more of that, how will we fare without his leadership and the sacred "intangibles"?

The one thing that really did bother me about Alfie was when he said he didn't think we could win the series against Pittsburgh. Some leadership :?

LOL, it's funny because while every other fanbase in the NHL was saying that, the Sens fans (on HF) were going nuts and defending the hell out of him for saying that.

I've said for the past few years that I think Alfie has stunted Spezza's growth as a leader. If Spezza was the starting center on any other team he would be captain by now.

I think that just showed Alfie was tired, both physically and emotionally.

By that point we had lost 2 or 3 games in the series, and the 1 win was where they basically let Alfie skate unchecked into the slot. His answer was definitely honest (which deserves some respect), but also something you don't want a captain saying when there is any chance of a comeback.

Detroit have a lot of good players with Alfie included, but I just wonder if they will get to about 55-60 games into the season and just start collapsing? There's a lot of "veteran presence" on that team and the legs may get weary.
